Entries for our 2024 competition are now being welcomed.

We will be offering prizes of up to £500 for the best essays in response to the following question:

    • Analyse the impact of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 on family law proceedings in the UK. How has the Act enhanced protection for victims of domestic abuse? Evaluate the challenges faced in its implementation and suggest ways to address them.
      Word Limit: 3000 words
Cases reported in the national media may be referred to, entrants can cite case law and statutes in their work if they wish. The judges will be looking out for an entrant’s ability to reason, and form an opinion supported by evidence.
Entry is restricted to members of Women in Family Law who are undertaking the vocational component of their training (LPC, CILEX Graduate Fast-track Diploma, Bar Course), or who have undertaken this component and are actively seeking or due to commence pupillage, a training contract or qualifying employment.
