2024 Essay Competition Now Open for Entries
We are now accepting entries for our 2024 essay competition, offering prizes of up to £500. This is your opportunity to showcase your knowledge and analytical skills in family law.
Essay Topic
Question: Analyse the impact of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 on family law proceedings in the UK. How has the Act enhanced protection for victims of domestic abuse? Evaluate the challenges faced in its implementation and suggest ways to address them. Word Limit: 3,000 words
Guidelines for Submission
- Entrants may refer to cases reported in the national media.
- Case law and statutes can be cited to support your arguments.
- The judges will assess your ability to reason, form an opinion, and support it with evidence.
Who Can Enter?
This competition is open to members of Women in Family Law who meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently undertaking the vocational component of their training (LPC, CILEX Graduate Fast-track Diploma, Bar Course).
- Have completed this component and are actively seeking or due to commence pupillage, a training contract, or qualifying employment.
How to Submit Your Essay

- Include in the subject line: Your Full Name, Essay Competition, Date of Submission.

- 1st Prize: £500
- Two Runner-Up Prizes: £250 each
